Belfast fire under control

A number of firefighters have managed to bring a large vegetation fire near a proposed subdivision in Belfast under control.

A Fire Service spokesman said the fire was the result of a controlled burn that got out of control, on Johns Rd in Belfast shortly after 10am.

Fire crews now had the fire under control which was confined to a large paddock with a lot of trees in it, the spokesman said.

Six fire engines remain at the scene.
