Christchurch CBD parking fees increase

 Parking fees are going up on the streets around Christchurch's container mall.

The all-day fee to park on Tuam Street and Cambridge Terrace is increasing from $4.00 per day to $7.00 per day.

Christchurch City Council roading corridor operations manager Paul Burdon doesn't expect the increase in fees will put people off going to the Restart Mall.

"We're pretty confident that we've got the right pricing regime at this point in time."

Paul Burdon says the $7.00 per day fee is much more affordable for motorists than the usual parking charge of $3.10 per hour.
