Shirley-Papanui Community Board member and city councillor Aaron Keown has found a novel way to rev up interest in the new central city plan.

Cr Keown has had the city plan blueprint emblazoned on his Suzuki car to get people motivated about the city's rebuild - but ratepayers needn't fret, the money came out of Cr Keown's own pocket.

"I got it done a couple of weeks ago. The paint job was looking really manky and instead of getting a paint job I thought you know what let's get something to do with the city's rebuild - I thought it could be motivational for people," he said.

The Christchurch Central Recovery Plan (CCRP) outlines the future development of the central city and was released earlier this year.

The blueprint outlines plans for different precincts, a stadium, metro sports facility and cricket oval.
