Gardening: Jobs to do
In go the veges
If you're confident the frosts are over, transplant vegetable seedlings into the garden. Prepare the soil first by adding heaps of compost and a dressing of general fertiliser and lime.
Make war on weeds
Have a close look at the lawn to see what else is growing there apart from grass. If it's weedy, use a spray for broadleaf weeds and a prickle weedkiller for Onehunga weed to keep those summer spikes at bay.
Don't waste space
If you have a large space to spare in the vege garden or in a flower garden, plant lots of different parsley. Add a couple of mint plants but grow them in containers.
Tool time
Deal with your tools. Get them sharpened, and mend or replace those that are broken. Clean them and give the blades a wipe with oil.
