Entries are flooding in, the course is set and the weather forecast looks great for The Star City2 Surf with Powerade this Sunday.

A fun event for young and old, the serious and not so serious, the City2Surf is a Christchurch institution and the South Island's most popular fun run.

The 39th event starts from Centennial Park in Hoon Hay at 9am on Sunday, with runners following a 14km route along the Heathcote River to the finish line at the Ferrymead playing fields where there will be entertainment for all the family.
If you want to tackle a shorter distance, a 6km route, sponsored by the Heart Foundation, starts at Opawa School at 10am.

The weather forecast for Sunday is for 23deg, with high cloud and northeasterlies.

"Online entries are up on last year, so we're looking forward to another great day," event organiser Monique Maynard said.

"The atmosphere at the new finish line is going to be awesome as runners approach the stage. There's something for everyone, from children's entertainment and a bouncy castle to the D&D Showband performing on stage."

Great prizes are on offer, including four $1000 packages from Smiths City, a $500 Jetstar travel voucher, $500 Asics packs, ThermaTech clothing and hundreds of spot prizes.

All participants are eligible for prizes, regardless of their finishing place.

"It's really all about participation - coming together, having fun and celebrating," Ms Maynard said.

Latecomers can purchase their $15 entry pack at Smiths City, Snap Fitness 24/7, Pak'n Save, New World or The Athlete's Foot outlets until tomorrow afternoon.

"They can register on Sunday morning, but we recommend they get to Centennial Park or Opawa School as early as possible to do that," she said.

The Star City2Surf is proud to support St John.
