Lions on hunt for new members
Wigram Lions Club are looking for new members to continue making a positive difference in the community.
Being a member of a Lions Club gives people the opportunity to make new friends, enjoy the fellowship of working with people, assisting during and after disasters and helping people faced with hardship.
Emphasis is put on aged welfare, helping youth to travel overseas for education or sporting activities, sight conservation for people of all ages and assisting children with physical disabilities.
Recent Projects carried out by the Wigram Lions include; citrus fruit, children's knitted clothes, toys and linen distribution to the worst affected areas of Christchurch, donation of a heart start defibrillator to Riccarton Park Jockey Club, telephone books distribution, construction of a children's play fort which was raffled prior to Christmas last year and more.
The club meets twice a month, the first and third Tuesday, and membership is invited to both men and women.
