Parts of south Christchurch are about to undergo major road work repairs.
Wastewater and stormwater mains, and road work, will be undertaken in Somerfield starting on Wednesday until the end of August next year.
A one way system will be introduced at the Sparks Rd/Lyttelton St roundabout - all east bound traffic will be detoured while west bound traffic will remain unaffected.
Lyttelton St (between Sparks Rd and Glue Pl) will be closed to through traffic while Lyttelton St between Sparks Rd and Mountfort St will be one way for south bound traffic.
North bound traffic will need to take an alternative route.
Stormwater and wastewater mains, including most public wastewater laterals, will be replaced along the road to the property boundary.
Work will start on Thursday on Lyttelton St, Roberta Dr, Conway St, Stanbury Ave, Rose St, Beachworth Ave, Marley View St, Nina Lane and Merle Pl.
This will be followed by Milton St (between Barrington St and Strickland St), Frankleigh St and Lyttleton St (between Frankleigh St and Stourbridge St).
Minor roading repairs, which will include carriageway repairs, pothole repairs, kerb and channel repairs, footpath repairs and berm repairs, will be carried out throughout the work areas as required.
On street parking will be affected during the work period.
Traffic management signage will indicate where parking will not be available Vehicle access to properties within the immediate area of the work site may be affected.
Residents will be notified prior to any work that will restrict access to their property, a Stronger Christchurch Infrastructre Rebuild Team spokeswoman said.
There will be a need to relocate bus stops in sections where the work is underway.
