Police confirm one death at house fire
Christchurch Police have confirmed that a body has been located at the scene of a house fire in Spreydon last night.
Emergency services were called to the reports of a fire in Clent Lane, Spreydon, at around 10.15pm.
Detective Sergeant Craig Farrant says a body has been located inside the residence. Police are unable to comment on the identity of the victim at this stage, he says.
A scene examination is currently under way and a pathologist will be at the scene this morning.
Police are also continuing inquiries around the area.
Detective Sergeant Farrant says it is too early to comment on the possible causes of the fire.
