"I was very happy when the factory opened.

"Marmite has a better taste compared to Vegemite that's why I enjoy it so much better."

Kirsty Taylor, 17, checkout operator, was surprised at the amount of people who came into Pak'N Save to buy a jar of Marmite on Wednesday morning.

"I'm not a huge fan of either Marmite or Vegemite but occasionally I will have Vegemite on my toast."

Andrew Slater, 29, events worker, said he wasn't fussed about buying a jar of Marmite.

"I am a vegemite person because I don't think it is as strong as Marmite."

Nic Crequer, 37, customer service, used to prefer Marmite.

"When the supply ran out we switched to Vegemite.

"We told our two young kids that it was still Marmite and they never knew the difference. I'm not even tempted to buy a jar of it."
