2012 The Star City2Surf

Thousands of Cantabrians turned out for the annual 2012 City2Surf fun run held in brilliant sunshine during the last Sunday in March. The new course took competitors from the start point at Centennial Park in Hoon Hay along the scenic Heathcote river to the finish near Ferrymead Historic Park in Heathcote.

Thousands of Cantabrians and visitors took the opportunity to view colourful displays of all shapes and sizes on offer at the Ellerslie International Flower Show held in Christchurch's North Hagley Park. Show managing director David Mee said many of the plants and flowers displayed at Ellerslie will be put to good use around Christchurch after the show. Hundreds of plants and floral art will make its way to rest homes, charity organisations and community garden projects such as 'Greening the Rubble'
